A newborn baby’s hand held by the parents – abstract blue-toned illustration

There are days that stay with you forever. For me, one of those days was the moment I became a father.

Preparing for the Big Day

The pregnancy went smoothly. Everything was ready: the crib assembled, baby clothes washed, diapers stacked neatly on the shelf. We were prepared—or so we thought.

As the due date approached, my wife became more restless, trying every trick in the book to get labor started. I just watched, knowing: the moment was close, and our lives were about to change forever.

Arriving at the Hospital

On the evening of December 30th, around 9 p.m., we entered the hospital.
They examined my wife, then calmly said:
– Dad, go home for now. This will take a while. We’ll call you when it’s time.

Go home? Easier said than done. How could I possibly sleep while my wife was in the hospital, ready to bring our child into the world?

The Call at 4 a.m.

At 4 a.m., the phone rang. The call I’ll never forget. They didn’t need to say much—I was already on my way. My heart pounded as I raced through the quiet, sleeping city.

The Long Hours of Labor

Time moved painfully slow. All I could do was hold her hand, whisper encouragement, and fight the urge to take her pain away. My wife fought like a true warrior.

The hospital staff were incredible—professional, kind, and reassuring, even when I felt the ground slipping under my feet.

The Miracle at 9 a.m.

And then, at 9 a.m., he was born.
His first cry filled the room, and we cried with him—from relief, from joy, from finally being able to hold him in our arms.

In that moment, all the exhaustion and worry vanished. What remained was a tiny miracle, finally with us.

💙 Final Thought

This was the day I became a father.
This was the day I learned that life’s greatest adventure begins with a single cry.
